Maruti Suzuki offers various products under the CNG lineup such as Spresso, WagonR, etc. The newly launched Maruti Suzuki Celerio is also going to get CNG right from the factory this month. And now, as per leading media reports, Maruti Suzuki is going to expand the CNG portfolio even further, by launching the Brezza CNG around the second quarter this year.
With this, we’ll have Maruti’s first CNG SUV. Post the BS6 era, aftermarket CNG fitment has been banned. This has left consumers with no choice but to choose factory-fitted CNG. Currently, the only carmaker other than Maruti to offer CNG vehicles is Hyundai. Tata is also going to launch the Tiago CNG on 19th January 2022. With this, we are going to get various choices along with different segments with the CNG option.
So, what can we expect from the Maruti Suzuki Vitara Brezza CNG?
Earlier, Maruti’s CTO, CV Raman stated that the company will introduce CNG variants for all their cars going forward. Maruti Suzuki Vitara Brezza is soon going to be updated. We can expect the CNG variant to be offered right from the beginning with the updated Brezza.
Maruti will be removing Vitara from the name and the updated SUV will be called Maruti Suzuki Brezza. We can expect Brezza to come with the same 1.5-litre K15B engine that powers the current model. This engine is capable of producing 105hp of power and a peak torque of 138Nm. With the CNG added, we can expect a slight drop in the output figures.
The same engine currently powers the Ertiga too. When paired to CNG, the K15B engine is capable of producing 92hp of power and a peak torque of 122Nm. We can expect a similar drop in Maruti Suzuki Brezza CNG.
Maruti Suzuki Ertiga CNG offers a fuel mileage of 26.08km/kg. We can expect the Maruti Suzuki Brezza CNG to offer the similar mileage of around 26km/kg.
What changes can we expect in the facelift Maruti Suzuki Brezza?
Apart from droping Vitara from the name, we are going to get significant updates on the exterior and interior of Brezza. It will have a completely new front and rear fascia. We can also expect additions like connected car tech, a sunroof (Yes, you read that right! A sunroof in a Maruti Suzuki car!), bigger infotainment system, paddle shifters, etc. All this, with the changes in design and materials will make the facelift Brezza more upmarket than the outgoing Vitara Brezza.
Maruti Suzuki Brezza Facelift Rivals and Launch
We can expect Brezza facelift to launch around mid of this year. It will be rivaling against the likes of Kia Seltos, Tata Nexon, MG Astor, Hyundai Creta, Skoda Kushaq and Volkswagen Taigun. As far as the CNG variant is concerned, Maruti Suzuki Brezza CNG will have no direct competitors. We do expect Tata Motors to launch a CNG variant of the Nexon.
