Hyundai Elantra Goes Missing!

The speculated reason for Hyundai to remove the Elantra is that the Korean carmaker could bring a new sedan to replace the full-size sedan and to rival the likes of the Toyota Camry and the Skoda Octavia.

Although, we also assume that this was the final end to the Elantra and the brand might nudge the possibility of launching a new generation or a replacement. However, there has not been any statement regarding any of the speculations.

What’s on the mechanical front?

  • The current-gen Elantra gets a 1999cc, 1.5-litre petrol engine capable of generating 152PS@6200rpm with a peak torque of 196Nm@4000rpm.
  • Transmission options include a 6-speed manual transmission and an optional automatic gearbox.

The removal of Elantra from the Indian lineup clearly means that Hyundai will now only focus on mass Market products as luxury products like Elantra and Tuscon are not very much in demand and Sedan Market doesn’t have a very great shape in India. One thing that Hyundai should do is improve safety of cars as like Honda proved itself, Hyundai can also do the same.
