The compact SUV segment has been on the boom for a long time. One of the most popular, the Hyundai Creta has been one of the top-selling compact SUVs since its first introduction. Much more recently Hyundai launched the 2nd generation facelift of the Creta, and since then, Hyundai has registered record sales for just the Creta alone. So much so that the Hyundai Creta is also considered the sole breadwinner for Hyundai in India.
Now, Hyundai is planning to introduce an electrified version of India’s most beloved SUV. Recently, 2 new test mules of the Hyundai Creta EV were tested in Delhi.
- The Hyundai Creta EV is expected to launch in 2025 alongside its rivals, the Tata Curvv EV, the Tata Harrier EV, the Mahindra BE.05, Maruti’s eVX, and Toyota’s version of the eVX.
- These two test mules were heavily camouflaged and by the looks of them, they seemed to be production-ready models
- Looking at these test mules, we could not make out much, but it seems pretty evident that on the design front, it will resemble the likes of its ICE cousin.
- As seen on the test mules, the charging ports of the Creta EV have been placed on the front. At the same time, other significant features include a sequential LED turn indicator, horizontal stacked LED positioning lamps, and a revised chiselled bonnet design, which will provide a more appealing look to the Creta EV.
- We also get to see a new set of aero-alloy wheels, which helps with the air drag coefficient, helping improve the car’s overall range.
- Moving to the rear, the EV version of the Creta gets connected LED taillamps, as seen on its ICE version, alongside a curvy spoiler taken from the Creta N-Line and a high-mounted LED stop light.
- It is also being speculated that the all-new Hyundai Creta EV will borrow its interior design and features from other Hyundai electric cars like the Ioniq 5.
- On the mechanical front, The Hyundai Creta EV is expected to have a certified range of 450km as standard. At the same time, the top-spec trims will come equipped with an advanced regen system, which could increase the mileage by over 150 km on a single charge.
- The standard spec will come equipped with a 45-kWh battery pack borrowed from the new-gen Hyundai Kona which pushes 138hp with a peak torque of 255 NM.
