Recently, Honda has launched a new bike i.e. Honda CB200X which is inspired by Hornet 2.0. Hero Xpulse 200 is the closest rival to it so today we’ll put both of these in front of them and compare which one is more value for money. So, let’s go into the ADV battleground for Honda CB200X vs Hero Xpulse 200.
Will the Honda CB200X perform better or Hero Xpulse 200?
The new Honda CB200X offers a single-cylinder 184.4cc engine not as the name suggests. It is an air-cooled two-valve SOHC engine. The sub-200cc engine can produce 16.1Nm torque and 17.3hp. It offers a 5-speed gearbox as the transmission.
On the other hand, Hero Xpulse 200 uses an oil-cooled two-valve single-cylinder OHC engine. The OHC engine performs better than Honda’s SOHC engine so Hero may take the lead here. It also has a 199.6cc engine which is better than the CB200X. Its transmission is also a 5-speed gearbox.
Basis/Motorcycle | Honda CB200X | Hero Xpulse 200 |
Type | Air-Cooled, two-valve, SOHC | Oil-Cooled, two-valve, OHC |

Power | 17.3ps | 17.8ps |
Hero Xpulse 200 surely offers slightly better power and torque figures. Still, Honda engines are known to be refined and if you plan on driving the bike in a city, the slight difference won’t make a lot of impact on your driving. Hero Xpulse is a fun-to-drive bike but still lacks refinement when compared to the engine on the Hornet 2.0 or the Honda CB200X. But, what will impact your driving and your liking is what follows!
Hero Xpulse 200 is a serious offroader while CB200X is a Hornet 2.0 with ADV-like looks (mostly)!
While discussing offroading, the bike should have great ground clearance, good suspension, a suitable weight that the rider can handle, etc. The Honda CB200X has a kerb weight of 147 kg and is very near to the Hero Xpulse 200’s weight i.e. 157 kg.
The ground clearance, though, makes a difference as Hero Xpulse 200 provides a better ground clearance at 220 mm. On the other hand, Honda CB200X has 167 mm of ground clearance to offer. That’s a significant difference.

Both of these bikes offer the same brakes with single-channel ABS so they might not make much of a difference. The Hero Xpulse 200 has a rider-adjustable rear suspension that may provide better comfort than Honda CB200X.
Hero Xpulse 200 can clearly perform better than the Honda CB200X because of better ground clearance, better suspension, and better dimensions. Honda CB200X can be better suitable for daily urban driving on the city roads.
What features Honda CB200X has to offer vs Hero Xpulse 200?
One standard feature Honda CB200X comes with are the LED-mounted lights. The turn indicators are attached to the knuckle guards. It features a belly pan and a large windscreen as well. Its digital LCD instrument can be adjusted as per rider’s comfort by up to five levels of brightness. Two trip meters, a gear position meter, and a battery voltage meter are also there.
Hero Xpulse 200 provides some amazingly interesting features. Riders can connect their devices via Bluetooth with the bike and sync them together. On-screen navigation is also there providing turn-by-turn navigation. It features all-LED lights.
Brakes and Suspension comparison
Honda CB200X has a USD fork at the front and a mono-shock at the rear, just like the Hornet 2.0. The disc sizes are 220mm at the rear and 276mm at the front. Both ends feature block pattern 17-inch alloy wheels as well.
On the other hand, Hero Xpulse 200 features a rear 10-step adjustable mono-shock for rear suspension while the front suspension is 37 mm Dia telescopic with 190 mm double DU bush. The front suspension travel is 220 mm for offroading. Hero Xpulse features a 276 mm petal disc and a 220 mm petal disc at the rear end.
Both Honda CB200X and Hero Xpulse 200 offer a single-channel ABS.
How pricing will play a huge role?
Both of these bikes are competing, being the nearest rival to each other. The Honda CB200X costs ₹1.44 Lakhs while the Hero Xpulse 200 costs approx. 16% less at ₹1.21 Lakhs.
Pricing can play a huge role in convincing customers as Hero Xpulse provides better engine capabilities, better ground clearance, etc. at a less price.
