You might have heard of many rags-to-riches stories. But this story is something different. Meet Ravi Pillai, a very successful Indian businessman who also happens to be the founder of the RP Group.

Just like any other rich and successful businessman, Ravi also has an array of luxury cars, but what makes him different from everybody else is his Airbus H145 helicopter, which made the talk of the town. You ask why? The Airbus H145 helicopter, which he owns, costs a whopping Rs 100 crore.

But before we get into the whys, let’s start this story with how Ravi Pillai became who he is today. It all started in the late 1970s when Ravi was just a youngling, born in a small village in Kerela, who completed his education in business studies and later moved to Saudi Arabia for better professional opportunities. After starting a small trading business, his company expanded its operations into construction and infrastructure, which in the future would set the stage for the RP Group in 1978. Back in the day, RP Group took on some major projects across the Middle East and beyond, The brand also ventured into hospitality, steel and cement.

In June 2023, Ravi made headlines after he purchased his brand-new Airbus H145 in Kovalam, Kerala. The Airbus H145 happens to be the world’s most sought-after helicopter and holds the ability to accommodate two pilots and seven passengers easily. It is powered by two Safran HR Ariel 2C2 turboshaft engines.

These two massive engines push out a maximum power of 785 kW and hold a max speed of 246kmph while operating at an altitude of 20,000 feet. It is indeed a technological marvel. It is expected that Airbus has limited its production to only 15,00 units for the entire global market.
