This might be a little hard to digest, but it’s somewhat true! After nearly 12 long years the German carmaker has decided to pull the plug on its most selling model in the Indian market, The Volkswagen Polo.
So, without wasting any more time let’s answer a few questions which might have crossed your mind after reading the title or perhaps the intro para.
Why is the production ending?
Well, the simplest answer to this question is that the German carmaker has been working on its India 2.0 scheme which promotes introducing new and more advanced models in the nearing future.
On the contrary, it is also being said that the brand has no plans to introduce a replacement for the Polo, anytime soon. Another reason for discontinuing the Polo is said to be its dwindling sales number (1,000 units a month).
As of now the VW Polo and the Vento are the only models are based on the brands older PQ platform.
Which are the upcoming models by VW in India?
As of now, the brand is all set to introduce a new global sedan, The VW Virtus, which is set to lock its horns with the Honda City, Hyundai Verna and the Maruti Suzuki Ciaz.
The all-new upcoming mid-size sedan from the German carmaker will be based on the brand all-new MQB platform which underpins all of VWs new launches i.e Volkswagen Taigun, Tiguan and the T-ROC.
