While the speculations were for the 165cc Apache RP or the Apache 125, TVS motors went ahead and launched a whole new motorcycle named the Raider. TVS has surely redefined the 125cc segment here and let’s see what all the Raider has to offer.
TVS Raider: How wicked is the performance?
Just to begin with, TVS Raider is able to do a 0 to 60kmph in 5.9 seconds, which is best in the segment. The TVS Raider has a 125cc single-cylinder 3 valve oil-cooled engine. This engine is capable of producing 11.2hp of power @7,500rpm and a peak torque of 11.2Nm @6,000rpm. The engine comes equipped with Eco Thrust Fuel Injection technology. What’s worth noting is that TVS claims that raider has a fuel economy of 67kmpl, which is really good, considering that people will use it for daily commute too. You will get a 5-speed gearbox. Raider also offers TVS intelliGo auto start/stop tech for better fuel economy.
TVS Raider is the first bike in the segment that gets riding modes: Eco and Power.
You will be getting 240mm Rotopetal disc brakes at the front and a 130mm drum brake at the rear in the top-spec variant. In the base variant, you will be getting drum brakes at both ends. Raider 125 gets a telescopic suspension at the front and a mono-shock at the rear. The mono-shock suspension has a 5-step preload adjustment setup and is gas-filled. You will get a ground clearance of 180mm which is really great for the Indian roads.
What features does the wicked 125cc have to offer?
The TVS Raider 125 has a fully digital instrument cluster with an inverted LCD display. It will display all the basic information and has a gear position indicator. You get to see a new LED headlamp which is very unique in design. At the rear, you get wicked LED tail lamps, something that is not common to this segment. You will get a split-seat setup on the TVS Raider.
You will be getting four color options: Blue, Red, Yellow, and Black.
TVS Raider 125: Price and Rivals
If you are looking to buy the base variant of TVS Raider 125 with drum brakes at both ends, you will have to spend Rs. 77,500 (Ex-showroom, Delhi). For the variant with a disc brake at the front, you will have to spend Rs. 85,469 (Ex-showroom, Delhi). It will rival the likes of Bajaj Pulsar 125, Hero Glamour, and Honda Shine.
