As per the recent reports, Hyundai and Kia Pakistan had issued tweets on the 5th of February that goes against our nation’s virtues. The tweet stated that Hyundai stands for the liberation of Kashmir which is an integral part of India. This has angered the Indian nationals who have been calling for a boycott of these South Korean carmakers. On the other hand, Hyundai has issued a statement online stating that Hyundai is committed to the Indian market for more than 25 years and they respect nationalism.
Pakistan has been shamelessly celebrating Kashmir liberation day on 5th February every year. But, a carmaker that has been a part of the growth of the Indian automotive industry for more than 25 years celebrating such a day on social media is really heart-wrenching.
Although the Hyundai India account states that these posts were unsolicited, how is it possible that all these tweets and posts made it online without verification or checking by officials?
Kashmir has always been an integral part of India and will always remain the same. If this was done under the government’s pressure or local authorities’ pressure, there should be a proper investigation.
If this was a stupid act of spreading false hopes to the Pakistani individuals, we strongly recommend HMIL issue an apology and not just condemn the insensitive communication made by some fools who have recently learned to operate social media.
