Tata Nexon has become one of the most sought-after sub-compact SUVs in India. Last month, it was the second best-selling car in the segment, after Kia Sonet. Currently, in the second generation, Tata Nexon received an update last month. And now, looking at the marketing trends, Tata has discontinued some diesel variants of Nexon.
Which variants of Tata Nexon have been discontinued and why?
Tata has discontinued 4 variants with the diesel powertrain namely XE, XZ, XMA, XZA+(S). The low demand can be the reason behind this. According to some reports, Tata dealerships have received a notification to not take orders for these variants.
There are some diesel variants still on sale such as Xm, XM(S), XZ+, XZ+ DT (O), and so on.
What does Tata Nexon offer?
Tata offers Nexon with 2 engine options. You get to choose between 1.2-liter turbo petrol and 1.5-litre turbo-diesel engine. As for the transmission, you get an option between a 6-speed manual and AMT.
Currently, Tata Nexon is offered in 5 colour options: Flame Red, Foliage Green, Calgary White, Pure Silver, and Daytona Grey. You don’t get the Tectonic Blue option as it has been discontinued last month.
As for the features, you get 16-inch alloy wheels which were updated last month, LED DRLs, LED projector headlamps, a 7.0-inch touchscreen infotainment system, an electric sunroof, a cooled glovebox, cruise control, TPMS, and so on.
Nexon is India’s first safest car as it scored a 5-star rating at the Global NCAP. You get a host of safety features such as dual-front airbags, ESP, ABS with EBD, electronic traction control, roll-over mitigation, emergency brake assist, hill hold control, and ISOFIX child seat anchor points.
Price and Rivals
Nexon locks horns with Kia Sonet, Hyundai Venue, Maruti Suzuki Vitara Brezza, Honda WR-V, and Mahindra XUV300. You will have to spend ₹7,19,900 for the base variant while the top-spec variant with AMT will cost you ₹12,95,900. What are your thoughts about the discontinued variants?
