While one has been built ‘Not for the saint hearted’, the other has been built for ‘All Roads No Roads’. One comes with a legacy synonymous with India’s freedom while the other comes with a legacy that took a hit for almost 3 decades and is now back. So, which one should you go for? Let’s battle it out in a detailed comparison of Yezdi Adventure vs Royal Enfield Himalayan. Brace yourself as this is going to be a long tour down the road! Let’s get the adventure started.
Yezdi Adventure vs Royal Enfield Himalayan | The Looks!
At first glance, you will see an uncanny resemblance between the two. It is when you take a closer look, you’ll see slight differences such as:
- The fuel tank design
- The windscreen
- Yezdi gets a round tail lamp
- A sharper tail section
- And that’s it!
Himalayan has been around for a while now and has been known to be one of the most preferred adventure bikes as there was no direct competition in the vicinity of this price range. That being said, looks alone cannot be the deciding factor here as both of them offer what an adventure bike should. So, we’ll head to the performance section now.
Which of the two perform better on paper and on roads?
If we were to compare the specs on paper, Yezdi Adventure clearly is the winner when it comes to power output. The Himalayan’s 411cc engine produces 2Nm more than the 334cc on the Yezdi Adventure. But, there’s a catch here. Although the engine has been sourced from the Jawa Perak, this engine on the Yezdis lacks the level of refinement which we can expect to improve in future iterations. RE Himalayan, on the other hand, has been around for a very long time and Royal Enfield has done a commendable job when it comes to refinement, especially in the BS6 era.
Yezdi Adventure vs Royal Enfield Himalayan | Dimensions Comparison
The adventure sits higher in terms of seat height, has a slightly bigger fuel tank, and is lighter than the Himalayan. Other than that, there is no significant difference as both the tourer bikes get the same ground clearance and wheelbase. Yezdi seems to have taken a lot of INSPIRATION in terms of design and dimensions. We’ll leave this verdict to you though. Let us know in the comments section below.
When it comes to the suspension, both offer a 200mm travel telescopic suspension at the front while a 180mm travel mono-shock at the rear end. In terms of brakes, Yezdi Adventure gets a 320mm disc at the front while the RE Himalayan gets a 300mm disc. At the rear, both the tourers get 240mm disc brakes. The Yezdi as well as the RE gets a 90/90-21″ tire at the front. At the rear, Yezdi gets a slightly bigger 130/80-17″ tire while the RE gets 120/90-17″.
Features comparison | Which one carries the legacy along with modernization?
Now, here is the department where coming late to the party is in favor of Yezdi Adventure. In terms of features:
- Both the bikes have dual-channel ABS but Yezdi gets ABS modes
- Both offer Bluetooth connectivity and turn-by-turn navigation, but Yezdi gets a fully digital instrument cluster while the RE has to do with the semi-digital one.
- Adventure comes with full LED lighting while RE has the conventional ones.
So, if features are what you’re looking for, RE does lack behind the Yezdi. And now it’s time for the final showdown.
Yezdi Adventure vs Royal Enfield Himalayan | The PRICE comparison!
It is clear from the above table that Adventure is surely a better bet if the price is your concern. But, do note, there are a few things you’ll have to keep in mind:
- These are the first iteration bikes from Yezdi, refinement will take some time and a few more iterations.
- The service network of Yezdi will take some or maybe a lot more time. On the other hand, Royal Enfield has been around for a very long time, longer than any other bike maker in India. This means you’ll get a better service network.
