Hyundai’s 7-seater SUV, Alcazar, is all set to launch soon. Some say it’s just a 7-seater version of the popular compact SUV, the Creta. Others say there’s more to that. We say, let’s find out! Let’s take a look at the key differences between Hyundai Alcazar and Creta.

Hyundai Alcazar will have a longer wheelbase to accommodate the third row. We can expect the Alcazar to have similar width though the dimensions are yet to be revealed. You do end up losing a majority of boot space to accommodate the third row.
Seating Layout Comparison
Hyundai Creta gets a 5-seater capacity with second-row being bench type. In the Hyundai Alcazar, you’ll be getting a choice of a 6-seater and a 7-seater version. The 6-seater version will be captain seats in the middle row whereas the 7-seater will have a bench seat with a 60:40 split. the third row in Alcazar is 50:50 split type and can accommodate 2 people.
Powertrain Comparison | Hyundai Alcazar Gets A More Petrol Powerful Engine
Hyundai Creta has 3 engine options: 1.5-litre MPi petrol, 1.4-litre Kappa Turbo GDi petrol and a 1.5-litre U2 CRDi diesel engine. As for the transmission options, you get to choose between a 6-speed manual, 6-speed automatic, IVT and a 7-speed DCT.
Hyundai Alcazar, on the other hand, will be offered with two engine options only: Nu 2.0-litre petrol engine and 1.5-litre U2 CRDi diesel. The new petrol mill is capable of churning out 159ps of power and a peak torque of 191.22Nm. Hyundai claims that this engine can do a 0-100kmph in under 10 seconds, which is impressive for sure. You will have an option to choose between a 6-speed manual and 6-speed automatic tranmission.
Design Language
Although both the SUVs share the same design ideology, Hyundai has made sure that one can distinguish between the two easily. Apart from the extra rear overhang and a longer wheelbase, Alcazar has a redesigned front fascia and a lifted roofline to provide extra headroom to the rear seat occupants. The front of Alcazar gets loads of chrome treatment and a whole new grille.
Alcazar will also have larger wheels than the Creta. You’ll get 18-inch wheels as compared to 17-inches on the Creta. Hyundai has made sure that the ingress and egress of passengers in the Alcazar by providing a stepping board.
Verdict | Is Hyundai Alcazar just the 7-seater version of Creta?
Well, definitely not! Hyundai has made sure that they don’t launch a new car by just stretching a previous one to accommodate extra passengers. Alcazar has a lot of new added to it.
